What is Bio Skin Remodelling?

by Dr. Tracey Garner

Bio skin remodelling is the new kid on the aesthetics block. Its revolutionary technology stimulates dermal cells to remodel, tighten and lift the skin in the face, neck, and other areas. Bio skin remodelers (such as Profhilo) are injectable treatments that target deep skin rejuvenation and are made of complex sugars, called hyaluronic acid.

The hyaluronic acid content in bio skin remodellers is much higher than other hyaluronic acid fillers at 32mg/ml, but it is gentler and works more superficially. Unlike dermal fillers, it is not cross-linked to stabilise the hyaluronic acid molecule, but rather heat-stabilised. Think of bio skin remodelers as caramelised hyaluronic acid: it has the same base ingredient, but it is different and for that reason, it functions differently. This stabilised gel slowly releases its hyaluronic acid to boost, hydrate, and remodel the skin for a fresh-faced, radiant glow!

What sets Bio Skin Remodellers apart?

Bio skin remodellers do not volumise, fill or contour like regular fillers and so, they will never replace them. It is also not purely a skin booster, as it works deeper than regular skin boosters. Profhilo (for example) has been scientifically proven to stimulate the deeper skin structures and subcutaneous tissue to produce more collagen and elastin and even to rejuvenate your superficial fat. It is the perfect treatment for saggy, creepy, or loose skin. The result is beautiful, lifted, rejuvenated skin.

The ideal Bio Skin Remodelling client

Bio skin remodelling treatments are suitable for men and women of all ages. Since it specifically targets skin laxity, it is ideal for patients who struggle with fine lines and loose or excess skin. It is a great option for young patients or patients who are new to fillers, and who want a very natural and gentle entry into the world of looking younger. If you are nervous about getting fillers, it may be the perfect option for you. It is also the perfect add-on treatment for someone who has had dermal fillers and botulinum toxin and is looking for the next step to enhance and rejuvenate their skin.

Does it replace Botulinum Toxins and Dermal Fillers?

Bio skin remodellers do not replace other aesthetic treatments. Rather, it is a new tool or ‘paintbrush’ in our aesthetic palette, which addresses a different aspect of facial rejuvenation. Botulinum toxin targets lines that form due to muscle action and can be used to give you that ‘I’ve just been on holiday’ and ‘I’m naturally friendly and glamorous’ look. Dermal fillers are essential for the deeper foundational work of medical facial rejuvenation. They can be used to contour, fill, shape, and lift the face.

Bio skin remodellers work alongside botulinum toxin and dermal fillers to rejuvenate the structure of the skin. Think of it as stretching the perfect canvas, on which to best reflect your facial features and beautiful skin.

Where can Bio Skin Remodellers be used?

The great news is that bio skin remodelling is not only for faces. It is a very effective and non-invasive treatment for face and neck rejuvenation and can also be used on the décolletage, hands, arms, knees, and abdomen – essentially anywhere where mild to moderate skin laxity is a concern.

What does a Bio Skin Remodelling treatment include?

The product (such as Profhilo) is injected superficially with a very fine needle on specific ‘bio-aesthetic’ points on the skin and strategically flows from there to reach the lower two-thirds face and the whole neck. The beauty is that the treatment targets a wide area and gives overall deep skin rejuvenation and tightening. The treatment is repeated a month later and needs to be maintained every 6 months to ensure that your new pro-glow stays.

What to expect after a bio skin remodelling treatment

After your bio skin remodelling treatment, you can return to normal activities almost immediately. You may see small, raised areas under the skin where the product was injected. Within a few hours, the product will spread under the skin and will no longer be visible. For 24-48 hours after your treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, direct sun, or heat on the treated area. You should start to see the results within a few days of your first treatment, but the full result is visible after your second treatment.

Where does Bio Skin Remodelling fit in?

Just like an old building needs a renovation and maintenance schedule that addresses every part of the building, ageing also needs to be addressed at every level. Fillers, fat filling, and facial cosmetic surgery can address the foundations or deep supportive structures. Botulinum toxin relaxes the muscles to treat lines formed by muscle action and gives you a fresher look. Professional curated medical skincare addresses all aspects of the skin such as acne, fine lines, inflammation, and pigmentation.

Until now we have been limited in our treatment of deep skin and subcutaneous ageing. Many of the treatments we have, such as stem cells, threads, and surgery, are more invasive and although effective, require some planning and downtime. The deep dermal skin remodelling that products such as Profhilo give us, is the ideal non-invasive addition to your facial maintenance and rejuvenation plan because it stretches the perfect canvas on which to display your best features.

The glowing skin effect

When it is combined with other aesthetic treatments, bio skin remodelling sets the stage for a naturally rejuvenated look that will give you a beautiful and unmistakable glow.
