Frequently Asked Questions
How Does IPL Work?
The light energy delivered by Lumecca IPL (intense pulsed light) gently heats the upper layers of the skin. The heat is absorbed by the target areas and will stimulate the skin cells to regenerate. Lumecca IPL (intense pulsed light) offers a superior solution to improving skin complexion and reducing skin irregularities – resulting in clearer, smoother and younger-looking skin.
What Can Be Treated With Lumecca IPL?
Lumecca IPL is extremely effective at improving the appearance of:
- Age spots (red/brown pigmentations)
- Small facial veins such as facial telangiectasias (spider veins) and poikiloderma
- Rosacea (redness)
- Freckles
- Sun damage
How Many IPL Treatments Do I Need To See Results?
Pigmented lesions may require 3 – 4 IPL sessions before seeing results, depending on the depth of the lesions. It will also require maintenance sessions to prevent new pigmented lesions from surfacing.
Vascular lesions may require 4 – 6 IPL treatments before seeing results and will also require maintenance sessions to prevent the reformation of new vascular lesions.
How Often Should I Have IPL Treatments?
Pigmented lesions may require 2 – 4 IPL sessions depending on the depth of the lesions and will also require maintenance sessions to prevent new pigmented lesions from surfacing. Vascular lesions may require 4 – 6 treatments and will require maintenance sessions to prevent the reformation of new vascular lesions. Skin rejuvenation is usually done as a course of 6 IPL treatments at 4 – 6 week intervals and this is recommended once annually for optimal results.
What Is The Downtime For Lumecca IPL?
Redness and localised swelling can be expected on the day of the treatment. Please keep in mind that pigmented lesions will first appear darker before lifting from the skin. Vascular lesions may also appear bruised or darker before eventually lightening. Expected full recovery time is 4 – 7 days.
