Dr Nerina Wilkinson has pioneered one of the most natural sought after “scarless face lifting” techniques. Her Stemcell4DLift™ uses stem cell technology which is part of a new and exciting frontier in the medical field. By harnessing the regenerative power of your body’s own stem cells, countless medical applications have been developed– from repairing injured tissue to curing diseases. Cosmetic procedures are no exception. One of the newest plastic surgical procedures is the “Stem Cell Facelift.”
A youthful face is a face with beautiful soft curves created by perfectly placed volume and a radiant skin. To therefore achieve a totally rejuvenating effect it is of utmost importance to correct both volume and skin quality.
Dr Wilkinson says, “I see so many patients who have undergone a technically beautiful facelift, however if the volume and skin quality has not also been addressed, I believe we have failed these patients in delivering a refreshed, youthful result as they simply look as if they had a facelift. The Stemcell4DLift™ is therefore one of my top procedures in delivering a scar-less facelift that rejuvenates and regenerates the facial tissues, achieving the most natural results.”
The Stemcell4DLift™ is, therefore, one of my top procedures in delivering a scar-less facelift that rejuvenates and regenerates the facial tissues, achieving the most natural results.
This procedure utilizes 4 techniques that work in synergy in one surgical session:
- Fat Grafts are precisely placed to stimulate Myomodulation i.e. strengthening of the deeper facial muscles and restoration of facial volume.
- ADSC (adipose derived stem cells) in the form of nano fat for skin regeneration from within.
- PRP (platelet rich plasma) enhances the stem cell rejuvenation
- CO2RE Fractional Co2 Laser Skin Resurfacing.
Who Is The Ideal Candidate For A Stem Cell Facelift?
This procedure is ideal for patients who have started to notice the signs of ageing, for example deflation, hollowness and sagging of the cheeks, jawline and eyelids as well as the typical skin quality changes resulting in fine lines, irregular pigmentation and loss of elasticity.
The rich regenerative capacity of the stem cells makes this procedure ideal for any patient who wants to “slow down” the ageing process.
Dr Nerina Wilkinson therefore advises this procedure to patients who are requesting facial fillers, as it is ideal for those who require more extensive volume replacement and skin tightening to achieve a more long-lasting, youthful appearance.
Why Stem Cells?
Stem cells contain growth factors that improve skin quality by repairing photodamaged skin and increasing elasticity. A “stem cell facelift” involves the harvest, preparation, and injection of these cells into the patient’s face by using their own body tissue to replenish and rejuvenate other body tissues. Unlike traditional fat grafting procedures, with stem cell facelifts, the fat is processed after it is removed to maximise the number of adult stem cells present before it is transplanted.
Once transplanted, adult stem cells produce other growth factors that enhance skin quality, texture and smoothness as well as diminish wrinkles. The skin becomes tauter and plumper which continually improves over the following months, even years.
How Is The StemCell4DLift™ Performed?
Unlike a normal facelift, in which the flaccid skin is excised to create an artificial firmness, a Stemcell4DLift™ is performed solely by injection and laser technology. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and oral sedation in a sterile operating room.
A small syringe is utilized to suction the subcutaneous fat of the abdomen, knees or medial thigh area; donor sites with high stem cell concentrations and contents. The fat is purified using specialised techniques to create lipografts and nano fat. The nano fat also known as micro-fat grafting is a refined process of fat grafting where the fat cells are specifically emulsified using Tulip Nano Transfer Membrane. The nano fat is therefore used in very delicate areas such as the periorbital, perioral and fine lines. Growth factors are added to the mixture of fatty tissue and stem cells.
A multi-planer technique precisely transplants the fat and stem cells to the face at different levels and layers to improve facial contours and create an uplifting effect. First the bone in the mid-face, then muscles and mid-structures, and finally the nano fat is layered very superficially under the skin harnessing the potential of the rich stem cells to improve the overall quality of the skin.
The final touch in the procedure is the CO2RE Laser Skin Resurfacing.
Essentially, the upper layers of the skin are vaporised, removing the superficial layers. This direct photothermal and photobiostimulation effect, therefore, removes the dull upper layers of the skin, stimulates new collagen and enhances the survival of the fat injections. This leaves the targeted area of skin feeling tighter and looking rejuvenated.
The Stemcell4DLift™ creates a full facial rejuvenation by boosting the uplifting effect of the muscles, replenishing youthful contours and improving the overall quality of the skin. As stem cells are nature’s way to regenerate new cells in targeted areas, the results are noticeable in a firmer and more youthful appearance of the face.
What Can I Expect From The Recovery Of A Stem Cell Facelift?
Recovery time varies per patient and procedure. This is an invasive procedure and therefore most patients are more swollen and bruised than they would be if they underwent the simpler liquid facelift or Natural LIFTTM. Swelling and redness can be expected for 7-10 days post-surgery, however, most patients require up to 3 weeks for a full recovery and require cover make-up for the resurfaced skin for 6 weeks post-procedure.
The advantage is that the results are more permanent and the stem cells in the fat have regenerative potential. A Stemcell4DLift™ is therefore indicated for patients looking for a once-off treatment to improve their skin rather than multiple less invasive skin rejuvenating treatment.
The Future Of Regenerative Medicine
Today, regenerative medicine is an exciting field with the potential to change our conventional surgical approaches in facial rejuvenation. Beautification naturally is the future, and due to the significant results of the Stemcell4DLift™ (non-surgical facelift), this procedure has become a gold standard in Dr Nerina Wilkinson’s practice.
